This is an independent study completed with Joe Porter and Dr. Joenathan as the research supervisor. The goal of this research is to classify different surfaces using IR, monochrome cameras, or mmWave. More specifically the goal is to detect potholes and black ice and relay that information back to a car system to warn the user or automatically provide correction feedback to avoid the obstacle. In addition, if time permits, a heads-up display or similar feedback system for motorcyclists will be created, overlaying a clear target for potholes and black ice, protecting driver safety.
The results of this research are found in the paper below.
